Cutaway finished!

I finished it. I started this in May, but wound up putting it aside for two baby blankets, four pairs of socks, and a moebius scarf which had to be done. Well one pair of socks was for fun, but I wanted to wear them.

Project details:
Pattern: Cutaway by Bonne Marie Burns
Yarn: Berocco Ultra Alpaca in the Marsh Mix Colorway
Needles: 3.25 mm and 3.75 mm

Notes:
I loved this pattern. It was easy to read, any confusion was truly on my part. I could definitely have knit this much faster if I hadn’t been distracted by other things, and while I’m not one to knit a pattern twice, as I sit here wearing it today, I can see myself making myself a second cutaway.

My one modification was to seam the shoulders first and then pick up the stitches for the ribbing. I’m not a big fan of finishing, so I thought this may be better for how I work. It did work better for me.

I have to admit I questioned my sizing, but tried to trust the measurements, knowing that I tend to make HUGE sweaters for myself, and after I put it on, I was very glad I did!

Cutaway Progress

December 29, 2007

Now that the Christmas knitting is done (of which I have no photos yet). I’ve been able to get back to my cutaway. I re-finished the back, and both sleeves are done.
I had to re-knit the back when I realized I’d made a mistake with the ribbing.

I’m pleased with the sleeves considering the amount of time between the two. I was a little concerned about my gauge changing on me, which it’s been known to do.

And a close up of the shaping. This photo also seems to show the color pretty well. It’s a lovely shade of green with brown throughout.

I picked up for the ribbing last night, so I may be able to wear this next week (if I can find the button I bought…).
